Setting Up a Worship Team on a Small Church Budget (Under ₦2m)

You do not need ₦10m to start a worship team. You need ₦1.5m – ₦2m spent in the right order, and the discipline to rent what you cannot yet buy. Here is the plan we give churches who ask.

Phase 1 — The spine (₦900k – ₦1.2m)

• Lead guitar later — it is the most replaceable voice in a church mix
• In-ear monitoring when you outgrow floor speakers

Personnel before equipment

One reliable keyboardist on a fair retainer (₦40,000 – ₦80,000 outside Lagos) is worth more than any instrument purchase. For special programmes, book session players per event instead of rushing to staff a full band — a drummer and bassist for the day costs ₦30,000 – ₦80,000 combined outside Lagos and keeps quality high while your own team grows.
