Should I buy a used saxophone or a new one?

Question

I have a limited budget. Is a used sax a smart buy or risky?

Accepted Answer

A used horn from a trusted source, properly inspected before purchase, is often better value than a cheap new horn — many "new" budget horns have poor factory setup. Always get a used horn checked by a technician before buying, not after.
